GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot food processing equipment, motors, starters, etc. Support the production process by reducing equipment down through accurate and effective trouble shooting. Must be able to work under pressure and make repairs in a timely manner.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Maintain and Operate Hayssen packaging equipment or relative experience. Troubleshooting and repairs of Ishida & Yamato scales
  • Must have excellent electrical skills including PLC’s, control circuit, read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and the ability to successfully maintain equipment.
  • Ability to maintain and operate chlorine and ammonia systems
  • Install 460V motors, starters, and disconnects
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Safety training/certifications
  • Perform preventative maintenance on process equipment
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:  
  • EXPERIENCE: Must have previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing process; minimum of 3 years qualified maintenance experience.

 

  • ADDITIONAL: Hands on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, and follow posted work rules/procedures.
  • SKILLS: Must be highly skilled in maintenance and HVAC systems. Experience installing and troubleshooting electrical components required. Knowledge of welding techniques is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia are present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted. Constant standing, reaching, bending, and stooping may be required at times.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 
 
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.  Some weekends are required.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent work experience and demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks. Electrical training/certification preferred.
