Key Accountabilities

Adhere to all MSHA regulatory and company standards

Develop and present mid and long-range schedules
Create level and stope designs
Create Longhole drill and blast designs
Work with the geological department to increase the mineral resource
Provide guidance to short term planning/scheduling to ensure alignment to longer term goals
Establishing and maintaining appropriate communications and relationships within the MTS department to understand their needs and provide advice for Geology and Survey as required
Establishing and maintaining appropriate communications between the MTS department and other departments by maintaining appropriate relationships and a be-of-service approach
Work collaboratively with mine production and geology departments and assist other functional areas to achieve their objectives

Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering
Minimum 5 years in the mining industry
Experience in mechanized, high volume, low margin mining operations preferably including shallow dipping ore bodies. Experience in shallow dipping ore bodies utilizing cut & fill, room and pillar, and long hole mining methods
Experience as a mine production engineer or short range planner beneficial
Experience using Deswik Preferred
Sound understanding of the functions carried out by the geological and mine engineering departments
Understanding of technical and operating processes relevant to mine planning and scheduling
Understanding of technical and operating processes relevant to project planning and scheduling
Understanding of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
