Part-Time IT Training Instructor Network & Security
  • To Teach 2.0 / 3.0 Network & Security Classes Fully Remote
    • We Will Hire An Instructor For Each Class If The Person Does Not Have Both Network and Security Expertise In Teaching.
  • Class Will Be Held On Tues. & Thurs. Evenings Starting in July 2024.
  • Class Will Be 10 Weeks In Length
  • Pay is $50.00/hr. for Class Time & Prep
Be a part of a fast-paced, growing team, that provides a solid work life balance. As a Part-Time Instructor, you will work with Tech Impact’s alumni programs (ITWorks 2.0 and ITWorks 3.0) to advance the knowledge and skills of entry-level IT professionals. 
Tech Impact’s Alumni programs are designed for graduates of our ITWorks program across the country who hope to advance their skills and their career.  Programs are offered online, in the evenings to allow alumni to continue their advancement.  Programs educate alumni and prepare them to sit for the CompTIA Network+ or Security+. 

WHO IS TECH IMPACT?
Tech Impact is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help other nonprofits use technology to better serve our community. Our services enable nonprofits to plan for, implement, and effectively use technology tools to achieve their organizational goals. We have offices in Philadelphia PA, Wilmington DE, and Las Vegas NV and have been delivering services since 2003 to thousands of national and international nonprofit organizations. Our ITWorks program trains over 100 young adults each year with the opportunity to learn and grow their IT skills and then our team works to find them employment. We are looking for an experienced IT professional with a knack for technology training for this part-time, evening role. 

 About ITWorks 2.0 and ITWorks 3.0
  • ITWorks 2.0 and 3.0 are online, evening programs designed to reengage alumni of Tech Impact’s 16-week entry level IT workforce development program, ITWorks.
  • ITWorks 2.0 and 3.0 are 10-week, 40-hour programs offered two evenings a week, online following the CompTIA Network+ and/or Security + curriculum.  There will be approximately a month break between each cohort. 
  • Alumni of any of the ITWorks cohorts across the country are invited to apply for these additional developmental opportunities after they have gained at least a year’s worth of experience in the IT field. 
  • Individuals selected for the program commit to sitting for the certification exam associated with the training, either CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+. 
  • ITWorks 2.0 and 3.0 provides these students with an experience that will help improve their income potential for life.  All these services are provided free of charge to the student and are supported by the generosity of the GitLab Foundation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a technology-experienced individual who can independently provide online instruction to a cohort of students from across the country.  The ideal individual is excited to transfer their knowledge to a group of dedicated students, and work with our team to help train our students for advanced opportunities in the technology field.  The individual must have prior instructional experience.  This position is grant funded and could be paused or ended at the completion of a cohort. 
Instruction
  • Have a strong sense of accountability for student achievement.
  • Firm grasp of instructional content for CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+
  • Provide extra support to students struggling with the curriculum.
  • Comfort with online instructional platforms (WebEx, Zoom, etc) and LMS.
  • Create a positive classroom environment and foster learning. Work tirelessly to keep our students motivated and help them create belief in themselves.
  • Ability to adjust instructional strategies to reach the program’s goals.
Support
  • Support students in their understanding of future career development and advancement.
  • Support volunteers to deliver professional development trainings, as needed.
  • Ensure students’ technical skills and training meet the needs of communities served.
  • Help maintain healthy and productive relationships with students, staff, and partners.
  • Organized tracking of student documents, student data, phone calls, and logging information into databases, etc.
 
ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS FOR SUCCESS IN OUR POSITION
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Work well independently and within a team environment.
  • Must have current certification relevant to the training material hired to instruct; CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+. 
  • Must have previous instructional experience. 
  • Previous experience engaging students in an online platform is preferred. 
  • Frequent exposure to new and challenging problems.
