Supply Chain Intern - Summer 2024


 
Summary of Position
Under direct supervision, the Supply Chain Intern will gain working knowledge of the automotive industry by working side-by-side with our talented team and contribute to meaningful projects in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”

The internship will run from May 20, 2024 - August 12, 2024 in Carson, California (not remote).


The Supply Chain Intern will work closely with the Supply Chain Operations Team to ensure we maintain supply continuity by analyzing schedules, BOM, and build specification for each car. They will collaborate with multiple departments and be a great communicator in order to help Planning make impactful decisions and keep material stocking strategies in place.
 
Essential Functions
  • Researches, learns, and suggests process improvements relevant to the Supply Chain department, such as MRP part number and BOM upkeep, Line of Balance implementation, BOM configuration tools, standard workflows, etc.
  • Studies the Singer part number schema and assists in creating a multi-tiered Line of Balance 
  • Plans, executes, and initiates process improvement
  • Evaluates existing processes
  • Identifies indicators for future improvement opportunities
  • Helps in the preparation of administrative reports
  • Assists managers in preparing training materials
  • Performs duties of people on leave if found suitable by the training manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited BS or MS degree program, and majoring in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related program
  • Strong interest in a career in Automotive Manufacturing and Supply Chain
  • Proficient working with SQL, Excel, or similar data analysis software
  • Understanding of lean principles
  • Experience with ERP systems
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Experience within the automotive industry

Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in a seated, standing, and/or walking position for extended periods

  • Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
 
Compensation
The pay for this position is $22.00 per hour.
