Position Summary
Gianni’s is seeking an experienced and service-driven Captain / Sommelier to lead front-of-house operations while supporting an elevated wine program. This role ensures exceptional guest experiences through strong leadership, seamless service execution, and expert wine knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support front-of-house team to maintain high service and hospitality standards
- Provide attentive, personalized guest service and handle concerns with professionalism
- Coordinate with kitchen, bar, and management to ensure smooth service flow
- Execute and support wine and sake service, including proper presentation and timing
- Maintain organization and stock of wine cellar, sommelier stations, and service areas
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, and communicate low or 86’d items
- Oversee liquor and wine inventory management, including monthly inventory counts and weekly ordering
- Train and guide staff on menu knowledge, wine pairings, and service standards
- Ensure dining room cleanliness, setup, and adherence to grooming standards
- Previous Captain or supervisory experience in fine dining
- Strong knowledge of wine, sake, and food pairings
- Excellent leadership, communication, and guest service skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-standard environment
