Carnegie Technologies of Austin, TX is looking to hire a DevOps/Sysadmin

Job Responsibilities:

The key activities for this hands-on individual contributor role include:

  • You will work in a fast-paced development environment on multiple projects, communicating and collaborating across functional teams.

  • You will work closely with architects, product owners, developers, and ops teams to design, deploy and automate a secure and standardized infrastructure upon which Carnegie Technologies’ applications and solutions are built.

  • You will rearchitect and/or migrate existing applications to use secure and standardized infrastructure components in a cloud environment optimized for scale, performance and reliability.

  • You will have ownership of the 24/7 health of multiple applications and their operating environments, supporting dynamic feature sets.

  • You will develop proactive monitoring, reporting, and alerting for application scalability and performance to meet capacity, response time, and uptime requirements.

  • You will drive critical problems to resolution, working to identify and understand root causes throughout the platform, defining corrective actions for continuous improvement.

  • You will continually tune systems for maximum efficiency.


  • You have the ability to clearly communicate technical information to technical and non-technical professionals, both verbally and in writing.

  • You have demonstrated an ability to work with a diverse group of professionals globally, including outsourced development teams.

  • You have experience with Confluence and Jira.

  • You have advanced skills in Linux administration.

  • You understand fundamental network and security concepts and best practices.

  • You are proficient in Python, Bash, Node, or Go.
    You have experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef or other configuration management.

  • You have extensive knowledge and experience with AWS and EKS.

  • You have experience with multiple database technologies such as PostgreSQL, and Cassandra.

  • You have experience with big data technologies, including, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Zookeeper

  • You have experience with release management using automated build, deployment, CI/CD technologies such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, Helm, etc.

  • You understand how to maximize system uptime and availability, ensuring functional and performance SLAs by testing, monitoring and tuning infrastructure and applications.
