We are seeking an inquisitive, highly motivated professional to join our team, with a focus on conducting investigative interviews for qualitative due diligence and  business intelligence projects, as well as other investigative matters. The investigator will join a team of seasoned corporate investigators, former investigative journalists and attorneys, and contribute to a rapidly growing firm whose excellence and expertise  at conducting deep-dive research and uncovering critical information and evidence has garnered the stability, loyalty and trust of clients at top global law firms, corporations, investment firms and NGOs.

Applicants for the Associate role should have one to three years of applicable professional experience in investigative or business journalism, corporate investigations, or related fields, including significant prior experience conducting interviews with sources to obtain, analyze, and distill quantitative and qualitative information. Applicants for the Senior Associate Role should have a minimum of four years of experience. The strongest candidates will demonstrate a track record of prior success at conducting interviews-based projects in investigative and market research contexts, including for private equity firms, hedge funds, and other institutional investors, will be comfortable working on projects across industries, and will have an understanding of software and finance terminology. 

The Associate/Senior Associate role requires dogged work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity, and the ability to collaborate with a team while simultaneously executing multiple deadline-driven projects. Fluency in a second language is a plus but not required. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conducting investigative interviews with human sources and witnesses for purposes of quantitative and qualitative due diligence and business intelligence assignments, or gathering facts and evidence in connection with disputes;

  • Drafting and editing client-ready investigative reports, and briefing senior management and clients on findings from investigations; 

  • Work with the senior leadership team on drafting research proposals, briefing clients, and assisting in certain aspects of client management and development, while adhering to corresponding budgets and timelines.

  • Contribute to efforts to raise company profile by participating in networking events and conferences, as well as generating ideas for and producing written thought leadership pieces for publications and distribution on topics that are specialties of our firm and of interest to our clients.

  • Efficiently managing time and juggling multiple, sometimes competing assignments and deadlines. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a major that required intensive qualitative research and report-writing skills (e.g., English, Journalism, Political Science International Relations/Affairs, or other related areas).

  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in corporate investigations, investigative or business journalism, or related fields (Associate); Minimum of 4 years’ experience in corporate investigations, investigative or business journalism, or related fields (Senior Associate)

  • Exceptional interviewing and/or on-the-ground investigative experience and skills.

  • Experience executing deadline-driven research projects within corresponding budgets, including efficiently managing time and juggling multiple assignments and deadlines. 

  • Outstanding investigative instinct and judgment; intellectual curiosity.

  • Advanced writing and editing skills, with superior attention to detail and willingness to provide feedback and guidance to others.

  • Experience in successfully maintaining (and growing) client relationships is highly desirable.

  • Expert comprehension, analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Proven success in working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Professional level of reading fluency/advanced proficiency in a foreign language preferred, but not required.

  • Proficiency in the MS Suite / Google Suite
