The Position:  AM Pierce & Associates is seeking a Business Development / Capture Manager located in Patuxent River, MD to be responsible for new business growth within the Defense market.  The capture manager will be responsible for managing the full capture lifecycle, sometimes across multiple simultaneous competitive pursuits.  The successful candidate must be a motivated self-starter, self-directed, and detail oriented. He/she must demonstrate practical experience building diverse industry teaming partnerships and successfully managing and winning Federal Government multiple-award ID/IQ and single-award capture efforts.

The Description:

The primary focus of this position will be to develop new business opportunities, including the development of strategic plans for prospecting and overseeing expansion into new customers and markets.
  • Assume the leadership position on current and new clients and nurture and grow the relationships.
  • Responsible for business development strategies, prospecting, lead generation, individual proposal execution and logistics and driving overall new business revenue targets.
  • Developing and maintaining existing and prospective customer relationships within the Defense aerospace market, with a focus on Navy and Army customers (including subordinate and supporting offices and commands) in the Patuxent River, MD and Huntsville, AL geographic locations.
  • Leading the pursuit of traditional and non-traditional contract opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling pipeline of business development opportunities.
  • Communicate competitive intelligence regarding business development opportunities.
  • Secure teaming arrangements with industry partners.
  • Oversight and active participation in proposal development.

The successful candidate will have the education and experience below:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent (Master’s Degree preferred);
  • 8-10 years of capture and proposal experience in Federal Government Contracting with a focus on the Defense market.
  • Understanding of Defense Department program management, budgeting, acquisition, and procurement processes.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR); and demonstrated understanding of all contract types (e.g., multiple award ID/IQ, single-award, etc.) and payment types (e.g., FFP, T&M, and cost reimbursable).

The Working Environment:  The physical environment requires the employee to work on-site at the government program office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  On some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.  Travel may be required.
