The Position: The candidate will lead the AM Pierce task team supporting the PMA-262 Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office

The Location:  Patuxent River, MD

The Description:
  • Perform software engineering duties in research, design, development, and test of Manned / Unmanned Systems.
  • Provide recommendations in computer science, computer engineering, data science, sensor, and data fusion, and/or automated decision-making technologies.
  • May conduct basic and applied research of Navy platforms and subsystems for both Manned / Unmanned Systems.
  • Analyze requirements and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and performance requirements.
  • Oversee Contractor software development efforts, to include participation in design reviews, witness test events, and review of delivered artifacts.

The successful candidate will have the minimum education and experience below:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or science/technical discipline is required; At least five (5) years of recent and relevant experience in a software engineering position

The Working Environment: The physical environment requires the employee to work in a Government facility in Lexington Park, MD sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for the majority of the workday.  Partial teleworking is available; however, a certain amount of time is required to be on-site in the lab performing tests, exercising the software, or witnessing test events.  The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.  Occasional travel may be required.
