The Position:  We are looking for a candidate who will be providing support in the design, development, integration, test and evaluation, installation, fielding, certification, maintenance and logistics support of Ship Air Traffic Management (SATM) equipment, systems and subsystems; and advanced technologies development. Systems and programs to receive Technical Writer support include JPALS (ACAT-IC), SPN-50 (ACAT-IV), AN/SPN-46(V), AN/SPN-41(V), AN/SPN-35(V), FRN-49, TACAN, AN/SPN-43(V), TPX-42, SYY and any other systems managed by the SATM team.  Specifically, provide administrative documentation, document tracking and configuration management of documents that are developed and reviewed across
a distributed work force.

The Description:
  • Provide Technical Writing support of all documents that may end up routing external to the SATM team
  • Maintain configuration control of all documents leaving SATM, specifically ensuring phraseology usages are consistent and accurate
  • Provide support to functional team efforts as required within the SATM team
  • Review SATM documents for completeness and conformity to standards
  • Create and maintain document process and User Guides for SATM teams
  • Created and maintain Government – OEM TR Priority list trackers in Microsoft Word for SATM teams
The successful candidate will have the education and experience below:
  • Proficient in use of all Microsoft Office products to include MS Projects
    • Formatting technical documents in Word
    • PowerPoint
    • Technical formatting
  • Some PMT proficiency/experience preferred - desirable
  • A bachelor's degree from an institution accredited through a U.S. Department of Education approved agency is highly desired. Four (4) years of relevant experience in addition to the requirements below may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Preferred qualifications:  Experience with and knowledge Air Traffic Control Systems.  Technical Writing Skills desired, can be on the job training
  • Needs to have attention to detail and must be a self-starter
  • Applicant selected should have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are highly desired
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including US Citizenship, for access to classified information
  • An Active DoD SECRET clearance is required

The Working Environment:  The physical environment requires the employee to work on-site at the government program office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, travel may be required.  As recent impacts to the work force demonstrate, a functional telework situation is also required.
