Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Infusion Center Nurse Manager and guided by the procedures of the Medical Center, Ambulatory Services and the Cancer Center, the Infusion Center Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager in ensuring the quality of patient care in the Mt. Zion & Mission Bay Infusion Centers and associated satellite centers and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice.

This position is responsible for assisting the nurse manager with all aspects of the operation, including but not limited to 1) recruiting, selecting, hiring and training staff, coaching and counseling, and completion of performance evaluations 2) assuring compliance with all regulatory and patient safety goals, 3) developing and implementing policies and procedures that assure a high level of quality care, 4) financial and budgetary aspects of the department, including revenue capture and expense control 5) supports performance improvement initiatives and 6) maintains close working relationship with outpatient infusion pharmacy services to ensure alignment of goals that meet patient safety and service standards.  This position supports the nurse manager in supervising all clinical and clerical staff of the infusion center, facilitating positive interaction among staff, patients and other departments.  This position assumes full responsibility for the unit in the areas delegated and in the absence of the Nurse Manager. The Administrative Nurse is clinically competent at the CN 3 level. This position will have management over site of 60-65 Clinical Nurse II/III/PD and 6-8 Hospital Assistants.

**The position will required to work at different UCSF locations including Mount Zion, Mission Bay and Satellite Infusion locations.**

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of recent experience
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Current ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card
  • Oncology nursing experience
  • BSN
  • Proven leadership experience in a clinical practice
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a nursing advocate
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Facility with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proven team building experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and self-development
  • Knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to this position
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Strong clinic / center patient care management skills. Practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and / or information technology
 
Licensure/Certification
  • Registered Nurse in the State of California and / or licensure in relevant clinical specialty
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Current ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card
