PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for overseeing and setting direction for all sales and marketing efforts throughout the Carolinas.  The successful candidate will set strategic goals and performance objectives, including, but not limited to safety, growth initiates and all facets of sales. This position will develop regional plans and budgets and will cascade the plan to the Sales Representatives. The position will also conduct prospecting activity in order to support business objectives and drive growth. This position is responsible for the marketing of products and services provided by American Materials Company. This position will report directly to the President of AMC.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Works with management team to develop short and long-range business goals and performance objectives for the area;
  • Stays current on market conditions within the area and determines strategic objectives that anticipate future market direction and needs;
  • Communicates regularly with direct reports and other managers and employees within the area on key business and market activities to ensure information is disseminated on a timely basis;
  • Develops sales, cost budgets and targets in alignment with the sales strategy;
  • Responsible for the implementation of the sales strategy within the region;
  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of the regional business plan in alignment with American Materials Company’s sales strategy;
  • Provides timely feedback to Sales Reps regarding sales performance.  Maintains accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports;
  • Monitors Sales Representatives prospect lists to ensure they are in alignment with the achievement of the sales strategy, target and regional business plan;
  • Supports Sales Representatives with resolving customer concerns and aid in coordination with other departments as necessary;
  • Works closely with the Sales Representatives on developing and executing on the customer relations strategy;
  • Supports Sales Representatives by identifying tools to support their needs;
  • Responsible for assigning account responsibility to Sales Representatives;
  • Perform weekly/monthly reporting as required to support the business needs;
  • Responsible for the creation, revision, and the communication of the forecasts;
  • Receive and analyze market data; 
  • Set expectation for Sales Representatives in regard to the customer relationship strategy; support, coach and mentor Sales Representatives to ensure success;
  • Communicates results and performance projections;
  • Attends & supports tradeshows and maintain industry associations;
  • Work closely with Sales Representatives, Operations & Supply Chain on ensuring the balance of products as it pertains to their region;
  • Responsible for the management and coaching of the Sales Representatives to ensure the sales force effectiveness;
  • Communicate with employees, direct reports, supervisors, peers, customers and the general public in a professional manner;
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant;
  • A working knowledge of customer specifications required;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback;
  • High standard of ethics, integrity and trust;
  • Must be available as needed during non-traditional work hours;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field;
  • 7+ years of successful sales and business development experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably crushed stone and sand & gravel;
  • Prior experience managing and coaching sales professionals;
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, domestic travel only;
  • Must be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check; 
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical; 
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times; 
  • Maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements; 
  • Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards;
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold;
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook; 
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA;
