Benefits Specialist

We are looking for a talented and experienced Benefits Specialist that is eager to join an exciting, growing organization. This position will be responsible for the administration and vendor management of employee benefits for a multi-state organization.

What You Will Do:

As our Benefits Specialist, you will use your talent and abilities in many ways, including:

  • Effectively administer all aspects of our benefit programs and vendors, including retirement, medical, dental, vision, life and disability, health savings accounts, COBRA, FMLA/Non FMLA LOA, and workplace injury.
  • Assist  and provide excellent service to employees with benefit questions, claims resolution, and act as a liaison with carriers and outsourced Benefit Assistance Center.
  • Review and process monthly billings from insurance provider’s invoices and resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company.  Partner with the Accounting Department to ensure proper and accurate data reporting.
  • Coordinate the maintenance with payroll system with regard to benefit deductions and/or data adjustments.
  • Audit monthly benefits-related invoices, submit for timely payment, and notify carriers of discrepancies.
  • Manage the administration of the 401(k) plan.


What You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in administration of employee benefits; multi-state experience strongly preferred.
  • Payroll experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable navigating through FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, and other complex regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with others employees and provide customer focused support for field agencies.
  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities efficiently and consistently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and automated processes.
  • Organized work habits, accuracy, and proven attention to detail, with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
