POSITION TITLE:  Inventory Specialist
STATUS:                Non-Exempt

This position has a starting pay of $16.50 per hour.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB:  Under the direction of the eCommerce Manager, the Inventory Specialist will manage and sort all Shopgoodwill incoming item inventory, answer appropriate customer inquiries, and post items as determined by the eCommerce Manager.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO:   In the absence of the eCommerce Manager, the Inventory Specialist will give general direction to all Employees, Consumers, and Volunteers assigned to the Shopgoodwill department.

RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with the eCommerce Manager to assure smooth operations in the eCommerce Department.
  • Maintain established sorting goals and speed as to insure a constant and uninterrupted supply of items to the posting & photography staff per current production goals.
  • Selects and sorts only items of quality in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Completes all receiving records and complies with Loss Prevention procedures.
  • Sends all rejected items to store of origin or as directed by agency needs.
  • Provides additional assistance and direction to posting staff as needed.
  • Research the value of the item, per all current procedures.
  • Photograph selected items, edit photos, write an accurate and meaningful description of item, post photos and descriptions onto the auction website following all set guidelines.
  • Maintain all appropriate storage shelves once items posted.
  • Answers basic phone or email customer inquiries regarding items listed.
  • Service pick-up orders when available.
  • Weekly removal of all unsold items and overdue items, per all current procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Organize receiving area for optimal production flow.
  • Clean items using paper towels or cloths and window cleaner or water as able.
  • Assists and supervises shipper in pulling any paid orders.
  • Assist shipper with packing and shipping items when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least six months experience with online auction site (such as eBay) processing a large volume of items including posting, selling, sorting, categorizing, tracking and maintaining records.
  • At least six months experience in identifying unique and collectible items and general antiques.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience, directing the work of others, highly desirable.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Ability to use PC computer quickly and competently.
  • Ability to understand basic HTML use on a PC computer.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers and donors.
  • Ability to type at least 30 wpm.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
  • Open office environment with overhead lighting; cement floors; constant exposure to low level office noises and dust, and a temperate climate.
  • Indoor weather conditions ranging from 60 to 80 degrees.
  • Regularly work with items that may be dirty or dusty.
  • Exposure to cleaning products.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Ability to sit at a desk, in front of a computer monitor for up to 8 hours a day
  • Ability to type and enter data for up to 8 hours a day
  • Ability to bend at the waist to pick up items from bins, carts and shelves.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to place items on shelves by reaching over head, squatting or kneeling, depending on the shelf height.
  • Ability to move items using a hand truck or 4-wheel cart.
