The social media/graphic design intern will work alongside the Marketing Communications Associate to increase brand awareness and message through the usage of social media platforms. Additionally, they will give creative insight into topics to be included GIRE’s editorial calendar and seek creative ways to spread the company’s mission.

POSITION TITLE:                Social Media/Graphic Design Intern

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB: 
This position would be ideal for a college junior or senior marketing major, or recent graduate.  The position will be 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule The Social Media/Graphic Design Intern will work alongside the Marketing Communications Associate to increase brand awareness and message through the usage of social media platforms.  Additionally, they will give creative insight into topics to be included in GIRE’s editorial calendar and seek creative ways to spread the company’s mission.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO:   None

RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage the company’s social media accounts and post content.
  • Brainstorm campaign ideas.
  • Create graphics with Adobe Suite.
  • Competitive Audit-Review other Goodwill socials/sites and make comparisons/suggestions for improvement such as what platforms they are using and how many followers do they have. 
  • Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Analyze analytics to gauge the success of campaigns.
  • Understand the overall concept of Goodwill and Goodwill’s messaging.
  • Provide suggestions to management for improving client/community experience on social platforms and internal processes.
  • Develop content calendar on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Build library of stock photos and content to include headlines, quotes, and marketing verbiage.

ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Back up any position in the department as needed to accomplish goals.
  • Attend all safety meetings including online safety trainings as required.
  • Exhibit positive leadership resulting in a positive work atmosphere for customers, clients, participants, co-workers, and management.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Graphic design and video editing experience preferred.
  • Proficient  with social media sites and tools, and an active participant is social networking.
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Suite.
  • Excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail, grammar, and tone.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Conduct self in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Position suitable for some remote work.  On site work area: Clean, well ventilated office.  Overhead lighting.  Carpet.  Temperate climate.  Low to moderate noise level.  May also visit other Goodwill locations upon direction.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Continuous sitting.  Fine finger movements with continual computer use.  Frequent bending, reaching and grasping.  Occasional lifting to 25 pounds.  Visual skill required.
