The Quality Assurance Lead will work as a liaison between operations at various Central Group businesses, involving sales, project management, suppliers, and clients as required to ensure that quality standards and client requirements are met and maintained.  This is to be achieved through understanding, developing, implementing, and enforcing compliance with customer specifications, regulatory bodies, and Packaging Technologies’ as well as The Central Group’s processes, policies, and procedures.  The Quality Assurance Lead is accountable for:

 
  • Internal and external quality issues resolution, using root cause analysis, and closure by effective implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Investigation of quality defects on incoming as well as in-process, and finished products.
  • Supporting and attending to client visits and concerns as required by the business from a quality perspective.
  • Driving operations accountabilities by implementing and supporting best-in-class standards and processes.
  • Actively seeking out and evolving processes within operations for every work-center to maximize and benchmark towards best-in-class quality, efficiencies, and minimize cost and waste.
  • Bringing continuous improvements to the evolving business by optimizing quality processes supporting productivity, efficiency, safety, and tracking performance there in.
  • Supporting the preparation and execution of internal and external audits.
  • Generation and analysis of quality data and reports.

The Quality Assurance Lead must have leadership experience and be capable of seamlessly supporting and working initiatives directly or as part of a project team to successful outcomes through following and supporting policies and processes, while relaying expectations and holding team members accountable for successful results.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  • Understand, implement, monitor, and enforce compliance with customer, regulatory and company policies and processes.
  • Be able to track, analyze, coordinate, and lead initiatives for all supplier, internal, and customer quality complains.
  • Execute corrective and preventative actions and the subsequent verification activities.
  • Review and document quality procedures and changes, ensuring all new functions and revisions are recorded into the quality system and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and execute internal, customer, supplier, subcontractor, and regulatory visits and audits in a quality-centric capacity.
  • Deliver executive level presentations for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Create and conduct staff training.
  • Gather and interpret performance data to create and execute and/or support facility, process, and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Provide quality data reporting at appropriate cadence of daily/weekly/monthly level to facility and regional leadership.
  • Document, and process records for site-specific or one-time occurrences such as protocols (reworks, validations, etc.), deviations (planned or unplanned), waivers, or releases for materials and products as required.
  • Leverage enterprise technology to analyze quality complaints, track corrective and preventive actions, and use data to isolate and track defective parts, over shipments, and resolve issues related to rejected products when applicable.
  • Ensure team members are adhering to quality standards by actively engaging all team members and supervisors on the production floor along with coaching, training, and conducting regular audits.
  • Be a change leader for SQF (or other GFSI recognized schemes) both with implementation and with maintenance within the facility as the SQF practitioner and be able to implement initiatives timely.
  • Maintain and support all elements of Food Safety Plans, Good Manufacturing Processes, and other aspects of the Safe Quality Foods System, reporting and updating on a regular cadence.
  • Demonstrate ability to execute tasks in fast-paced environment and ensure that all reporting is completed timely and accurately.
  • Ensure a safety-oriented environment at the facility for all team members, vendors, and customers.
  • Provide quality assurance and project participation support to the management team to help drive results and meet production, quality, and safety goals.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
 
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality experience in manufacturing.  Display, paper, or corrugated environments preferred.
  • College diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or similar fields.
  • Proven track record of problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience developing and implementing quality processes, documentation, and production improvement.
  • Fully versed in analytical and statistical applications and can track and interpret data.  Six Sigma Black or Green Belt training is an asset.
  • Capable of assuming authority and leadership role as needed.
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma, SPC, ISO 9001, SQF, and HACCP preferred.
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing or machining.
  • Strong time management, collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage, inspire and hold team members accountable.
  • Strong presentation skills for training, reporting, and sharing information effectively with staff and upper management.
  • Microsoft programs suite (Office 365, Visio, etc.) experience with advanced skills in MS Excel.
