General Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Large Format Print Production Professional for our sign department in the Cedar Hill office. Operating within Graphic Production, the person is responsible for providing sign print, finishing and shipping services for Tradeshow and Exhibits and Design (E&D) requirements. The position involves printing, handling, laminating, mounting/trimming large/grand graphic signage, and preparation of packages for shipping to various locations.

The ideal candidate has experience in wide format color print operation and a positive attitude. Must be committed to quality, possess a high level of attention to detail, consistent delivery, outstanding customer service, and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Execute the print/production and package signage; work ranges from producing simple small signage, to fabrication of complex sign assemblies
  • Read and calculate department job ticket(s) information; follow specific fabrication instructions as indicated by Work Order(s), Customer(s), or Supervisor(s)
  • Ensure maximum machine efficiency while completing orders on-time and in accordance with customers’ expectations.
  • Operate Large/Grand format printers, maintain machine logs and make adjustments as needed; inform supervisor of equipment problems and place service calls when required
  • Operate and Maintain RIP and Various Print Production Equipment, load and operate large/grand roll to roll and flatbed printers; i.e., HP, EFI Vutek
  • Maintain inventory supplies as needed
  • Prepare and apply vinyl; i.e., setup, weeding, cutting, taping, trimming and mounting to substrates
  • Use graphic tools and chemicals safely and with proficiency, including but not limited to: UV inks, cleaning solvents, precision or utility knife, mechanical wall cutter, computerized graphic cutting device, metal straight edge, measuring tape, transfer tape, lighter fluid, rubbing alcohol, and other materials related to the production of graphics
  • Prepare final product for shipping and delivery multiple locations; create custom packaging when necessary
  • Maintain and safely use all large/grand format finishing tools and equipment provided for trimming, cutting, and packaging.
  • Provide quality control at designated steps on the process
  • Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary of the position under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Graphics Manager or Director

Education/Experience:

The Digital Print / Large Format Operator position requires a person who is very organized and great in prioritizing, organizing and planning in order to see each job through completion and be able to meet given deadlines.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 3-5+ years industry Operator experience in Large Format Digital Printing
  • Pre-production File Prep; Mid-level of experience with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Must be able to effectively prepare and troubleshoot a variety of file formats and edit PDF documents
  • Experience with large format imaging – roll and rigid printing and precision finishing
  • Experience printing on a large variety of substrates
  • Proficient in the operation of Macintosh, PC, and Windows NT operating system Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Understanding of RIP software and color management
  • Must be able to establish color approvals on printer with or without customer interactions and be able to maintain color and print quality for production run
  • Willingness to follow department policies and procedures and maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Multi-tasking skills & a team player a must
