In this Role, you’ll get to:
- AvtechTyee uses metrics to define standards for productivity, quality, and cost. Incumbent is responsible for meeting all defined standards.
- Develop, implement, enhance, and maintain procedures, directives, policies, and work instructions
- Work closely and respond, as appropriate, to questions from sales, production, procurement, and logistics related to import and export trade compliance matters, and review all documentation ensuring import/export entry elements are declared properly and duties and taxes are properly assessed
- Assist sales and Production in compiling quotes by providing rates, tariffs, additional cost
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on trade issues including, but not limited to, country of origin determination and marking, valuation, denied parties, embargoed countries, anti-boycott compliance and reporting, and red flag issues
- Lead internal investigations and reviews of deviations from policies and procedures and any possible resulting export/import compliance violations
- Develops content and presents export compliance training to a variety of audiences, as required
- Monitor import/export compliance through self-assessment audits with the goal of identifying weaknesses and risk
- Conduct research, determine, and assign accurate tariff classification, country of origin, valuation, of raw materials / finished goods
- Prepare, review, approve, and submit applications for export/import licenses, and other requests for authorization
- Serve as liaison with U.S. government agencies on strategy development related to specific export matters of concern, respond to inquiries from U.S. Government reviewers, and resolve application related issues
- Further develop an ongoing, country- tailored training program that includes but is not limited to, export control and technology, Corporate Trade Standards, general awareness, risk identification, and escalation
- Work with manufacturers/vendors/brokers to set up the effective import/export processes to support AvtechTyee/Transicoil operations
- Monitor regulatory changes related to import/export
- Actively contribute and execute ideas for process improvements and cost savings
- Presents a competent and composed demeanor, representing the company with professionalism to all stakeholders (including but not limited to applicants, employees, contractors, vendors, and customers) to successfully advance the interests of the company
- Follows all environmental health and safety policies and procedures, models safe work practices

What you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, International Trade, Law, International Business, Business/Administration, Education, Management, Finance, Engineering, or related field
- Advanced Trade Compliance Regulation knowledge, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Experience in a corporate import/export compliance setting
- Experience delivering business critical projects and using influence to drive engineering and business teams toward goals
- A mix of compliance and project management experience, preferably within the Aerospace and/or Aviation industries
- Trade Compliance experience in R&D field
- Experience with the application and management of export authorizations including use of internal and external IT tools (D-Trade/SNAP-R/OCR-EASE,) is required
- At least two years’ experience in managerial roles preferred
- Experience with public accounting methods and/or trade compliance auditing (internal and external) strongly preferred

- To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government
