Role Summary

The Director of Spa is responsible for managing a smooth flow of business the while providing guests and members with the highest level of guest service to increase sales and encourage repeat business.  The Director of Spa maintains this level of excellence by hiring, training and supervising qualified team members.

Key Responsibilities
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done!  Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • The Director of Spa supports the Director of Wellness in the planning and managing of two major functions of the spa to achieve guest, employee and owner satisfaction and quality service while meeting/exceeding financial goals
  • Director of Spa is responsible for managing, Spa treatment services to include; Facials, Massage and Mudslides.
    • Mentor and inspire providers and leads to create a compelling experience for our guests and members.
    • Be creative in determining playful and fun experiences that are unique to Solage.
    • Develop and maintain a schedule that meets booking demands based on yield management.
    • Responsibilities include; writing SOP’s, training and development, product sourcing and inventory management.
    • Work closely with the Spa Manager to ensure clear cross departmental communication.
    • Monitor the Solage Website for consistency on the treatment menus and marketing opportunities.
  • Director of Spa will oversee our Retail Store and Bathhouse F&B sales.
    • Source, plan, merchandise and evaluate product sales and performance.
    • Supervise, train and assist employees on product knowledge, set sales goals, implement purchasing plans and maintain cost control measures.
    • Seek creative ways to promote retail product lines within the resort through, displays, pop-up events, etc.
    • Have a proactive in-store planning approach and determine reasonable product turn times
    • Create a compelling buying experience for our guests that is representative of our resort, playful and unique with an insiders perspective.
  • Interview, hire and recruit quality team members.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the booking system and be able to answer questions and solve problems as needed.
  • Provide updated and accurate information regarding spa policy, new procedures, and other information that will assist the team members in effectively performing their duties.
  • Analyze labor on a daily basis, flexing staff as needed to match daily revenue.
  • Plan and schedule staff meetings and training programs and ensure all staff are attending sessions on a regular and consistent basis.

Required Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Senior Manager including experience in managing a team, and hiring, coaching and training associates.
  • Ability to analyze financial data to create revenue generating strategies and expense control
  • Proven ability to create and implement spa service menus.
  • Ability to demonstrate and model outstanding guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to counsel and coach associates and solve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include weekend and evenings as needed.
  • Professional appearance & demeanor.
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
  • Proficient in sales, public relations and marketing strategies
  • Goal oriented while simultaneously being a problem solver

Physical Demands
  • Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property. 
  • Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.     
  • Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.
