Role Summary

The Lead Host/ess is responsible for initial guest interaction at the door, the Host welcomes all who enter warmly, setting the tone for each guests’ experience. The Lead Host is expected to embody the hospitality and charm and professionalism of our organization. The Lead Host leads guests to their tables, manage reservations within Open Table and communicate with front of house staff when they have a new party in their section. Assist guests in making reservations.

Core Responsibilities

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done!  Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Answering phones, managing reservations, showing guests to tables and maintaining the flow of service throughout the dining room.

  • Must provide pleasant, conscientious, and professional customer service.

  • Communicate with customers while they wait for their drink and food order

  • Ensure complete and consistent cleanliness of the host area

  • Train new team members 

  • Ability to use Open Table or other reservation systems the hotel may use

  • Be available to answer calls and to greet guests

  • Monitor the floor to advise on any guests that need to be greeted 

  • Supervise host book efficiently and oversee clients seating arrangements

  • Handle clients amicably and with understanding whether they have reservation or not

  • Schedule reservation for guests both in person and over the phone

  • Communicate with supervisors or management on any issue related to customers

  • Handle all cases related to guest courteously and professionally

  • Maintain diplomacy while relating with clients

  • Work with culinary and management to edit menus 

  • Edit, print and distribute menus to the various outlets

  • Update and email marketing with menu changes 

  • Assist in making, editing, and canceling reservations for Solbar and Picobar 

  • Assist in managing e-mail correspondence for F&B outlets

  • Other projects as needed and other responsibilities as the position is developed

Required Qualifications

Position requires knowledge of computers as well as ability to answer multiple phone lines. Prior restaurant experience preferred. Must be able to multitask. Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds. Candidate must have a flexible work schedule as well and work holidays.
