Role Summary
Join our team as Assistant Director of Rooms and become one of the authors of our story. The Assistant Director of Rooms will oversee all aspects of the Front Office (Front Desk, Bell/Valet, PBX, Concierge, Security and Guest Experience) and Housekeeping. Acts as a senior manager when the division head is unavailable and assumes responsibilities of the Director of Rooms in his/her absence while ensuring that the quality of service meets the resort’s standards.  The ADOR will lead with our ENRICH values thereby creating and supporting a cohesive team and will be key in building interdepartmental collaboration.

Core Responsibilities
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done!  Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates.  Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Assists in leading and managing the day to day operations of Front Office and Housekeeping.

  • Supports the Front Office/Housekeeping as MOD and in other roles when needed.

  • Understands hourly positions well enough to perform duties in team members' absence or during peak volume periods.

  • Oversees group business as it pertains to the Rooms Division, reviewing and ensuring that specifications of group resumes are met.

  • Ensures thorough communication of and follow-up to guest or team member requests/special requirements and hotel initiatives.

  • Anticipates guest needs and resolves guest concerns in order to exceed service expectations.

  • Collaborates with the Experience Curator to develop new and unique guest experiences.

  • Responds to guest feedback (Trip Advisor, Unifocus- guest experience survey).

  • Responsible for the overall condition of the property. Conducts regular walkthroughs and partners with Housekeeping and Engineering teams.

  • Leads and is responsible for the Perfect Room Program in collaboration with Engineering.

  • Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of hotel guests and team members. Responds swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation.  Acts as Safety Ambassador.

  • Advocates sound financial/business decision making.

  • Yields Cost Control.

  • Reviews and critiques General Ledger.

  • Assists with recruiting efforts and ensures that all department managers are in compliance with standards of interviewing and hiring procedures.

  • Provides training to staff in service standards, ENRICH values and technical standards.

  • Assists in overseeing the Manager Development Program.

  • Ensures team members are treated fairly and equitably. Strives to improve team member engagement.

  • Provides guidance and direction to team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

  • Conducts coaching, counseling, performance reviews and check ins.

Required Qualifications

  • Full Time Management Position that requires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends, overnight and holidays and a varied schedule.

  • Previous management experience required, preferably in a luxury setting.

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

  • Pleasant, polished and professional demeanor.  Exceptional people skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement and drive programs and procedures within a team.

  • Experience in training and motivating a team.

  • Skilled in communication and collaboration across departments.

  • Excellent written and communication skills in polished business English.

  • Works well under pressure.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail and follow through 

  • Ability to take on new responsibilities and roles as the position demands.
