Black Hills Surgical Hospital is seeking an experienced Dietician to collaborate and consult with to serve our patients dietary needs.

Job Summary:
The Dietician serves as a consult for BHSH’s patient nutritional needs, bariatric program and Executive Health Exams. The Dietician collaborates with BHSH hospitality staff to develop, coordinate and deploy nutrition services for patients.
  1. To establish policies and procedures for nutrition services.
  2. To assist with the planning of menus.
  3. To participate in the appropriate contracted restaurant food vendor and food service equipment selection.
  4. To work with the contracted galley and nursing personnel to enable them to provide high quality nutrition services.
  5. To periodically monitor the accuracy of nutrition services, sanitation, food temperatures, food storage, portioning, and menu substitutions.
  6. To participate in the selection and approval of the diet manual.
  7. To provide diet education for patients as ordered by physicians.
  8. To provide nutrition education and in-services for Company’s staff as well as provide resources for nutritional information.
  9. To provide nutritional counseling in reference to medical conditions and diagnosis of Executive Health Exam clients and bariatric patients.
  10. To provide diet evaluation for Executive Health Exam clients and bariatric patients.
  11. To assist with the planning of menus for the bariatric patient.
  12. Will provide documentation of consultation for chart, Executive Health Exam clients, and bariatric patients.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in the field of dietetics with courses in food preparation and service.
  • State license.
  • Certification from the American Dietary Association preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in a related field of dietary work.
  • A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing while communicating with patients may be required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
