AvtechTyee is seeking an energetic, inquisitive, and disciplined Maintenance Intern for special Projects and day-to-day operations. This is a diverse role and suitable for anyone pursuing manufacturing, engineering, or mechanical trades skills. Day-to-day tasks range from maintaining CNC machines, fixing hydraulic systems and troubleshooting complex machinery to creating factory layouts in Solid Works, procuring goods and navigating/improving Computerized Maintenance Management Software. While project-based, the internship is designed to be “real-world” experience and the candidate should expect to spend as much as 50% of the time engaged with actual day-to-day departmental and business demands which will require/develop proficiency in prioritizing and multi-tasking.
Ideal candidate is self-motivated with a critical eye, detail oriented, doesn’t mind getting dirty and enjoys fixing and improving machines and processes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Fix hydraulic, pneumatic, manual and CNC controlled machines and systems
  • Design and fabricate solutions to problems. Machining, welding and metal fabrication skills a plus.
  • Maintain machine coolant, waylube and chip bins
  • Complete facility inspections and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Create facility layout in Solid Works
  • Operate scissor lifts and forklift
  • Complete projects from start to finish, finding and utilizing third party vendors in some cases.
  • Searching for and procure supplies and tools
  • Create and complete work orders and PM’s in E-Maintenance program with high level of detail and communication
  • Find and read machine diagrams & manuals.
  • Other duties related to facility maintenance and Environmental Health and Safety tasks   
  • Complete Facility layout in CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Research and implement a filtration system for fine metal particles suspended in solution. Validate system maintains solution to quality standards.
Project Deliverables:
  • Completed CAD facility layout
  • Complete, effective solution cleaning system installed and associated maintenance requirements communicated and implemented. 

Intern will complete a confidential pre-internship survey describing goals and expectations and a confidential post-internship survey evaluating the program, the department, and the company as a whole.  Human Resources will use this information to provide feedback and coaching to employees involved in the program and to drive improvements to the Internship Program overall.

Desired Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equiv.  Current enrollment in Collegiate or Trade Program.
  • Experience with mechanical systems. Experience with solid modeling programs a plus.
