IRTS Treatment Director

• Provide and document required clinical supervision to IRTS program staff by:
  • Reviews the needs of the clients
  • Reviews the needs and effectiveness of the program
  • Reviews needs and issues related to staff training
• In consultation with the Program Director, develop, review, and revise as needed a written clinical supervision plan
• Provide urgent consultation to IRTS and other staff as indicated by client need, and is available on-call to respond to clinical emergencies
• Ensure service quality provided to clients and that services provided are medically necessary and appropriate to client’s needs
• Supervise clinical program and activities to ensure compliance with licensure, policies, and develops and recommends changes as appropriate
• Attend client treatment planning, treatment plan review, and discharge conferences as needed

• Review clients’ admission information and history
• Meet with clients and perform a diagnostic assessment, as needed
• In conjunction with other supervisory staff, ensure that required treatment documentation is completed to quality standards

• Write, review and/or approve the following documents as needed:
  • Initial and review and/or updates of Individual Treatment Plan, Individual Abuse Prevention Plan 
  • 24-Hour Needs Assessments
  • Initial and review/updates of Functional Assessments 
  • Write, review, update needed assessments
  • Initial and review/updates of Individual Treatment Plans
  • Progress notes
  • Discharge Summaries
  • Review substance-use disorder screenings and assessments

• Ensure that all Minnesota statutes and licensing are up to date in consultation with the Director of Compliance
• Provide quality assurance for billing and complete IRTS licensing reviews and recertification and compliance process

• Participate as a member of the treatment team by meeting with the team at least weekly to:
  • Review each client’s treatment plan objectives goals, objectives, and interventions, and revise, as needed
  • Review each trainee’s Individual Abuse Prevention Plan 
  • Provide a written summary of client’s individual record at weekly team meeting

1. Mental Health Professional status as defined by the Department of Human Services and Minnesota Statute 245.462:
   1. Clinical Social Work: a person licensed as an independent clinical social worker under chapter 148D, or a person with a master's degree in social work from an accredited 
   2. college or university, with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness;
   3. Psychology: an individual licensed by the Board of Psychology under sections 148.88 to 148.98 who has stated to the Board of Psychology competencies in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness
   4. Psychiatry: a physician licensed under chapter 147 and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligible for board certification in psychiatry, or an osteopathic physician licensed under chapter 147 and certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, or eligible certification in psychiatry
   5. Marriage and family therapy: the mental health professional must be a marriage and family therapist licensed under sections 148B.29 to 148B.39 with at least two years of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness
   6. Licensed professional clinical counseling: the mental health professional shall be a licensed professional clinical counselor under section 148B.5301 with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness
   7. Allied fields: a person with a master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields, with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness
2. At least seven (7) years experience delivering services to adults with mental illness 
3. At least three (3) years supervisory experience
4. Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle

1. Completion of chemical dependency counseling training and/or training in the treatment of addictive behaviors
2. Fluent in a non-English language or competent in the culture of an ethnic group to which 20 percent or more of the agency’s recipients belong

• Therapy and counseling – Principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance
• Education and training – Methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and measurement of training effects
• Language – Structure and content of language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
• Customer and personal service – Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
• Community resources – Community resources and their use for the benefit of the client
• Administration and management –  Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
• Chemical dependency awareness – Maintains knowledge of current developments and issues in the field of chemical health and addictions

• Active listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand points being made, asking appropriate questions, not interrupting inappropriately 

• Speaking – Talking to others to convey information effectively
• Critical thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
• Writing – Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate to the needs of the audience

• Reading comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in documents
