Middle School Religion Teacher (Beaverton, OR)

Valley Catholic Middle School seeks a Religion teacher passionate about guiding students through 8th Grade Church History while supporting their intellectual, spiritual, and moral development.

Salary Range: $47,213  (BA 1) to $64,602  (MA7+).

• Hold a current Oregon Teaching License with a middle-level endorsement or a degree in Theology, Religious Studies, History, or a related field

• Teach 8th Grade Church History, helping students understand the development of the Catholic Church within historical and cultural contexts

• Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that support faith formation, critical thinking, and historical understanding

• Lead and support student involvement in retreats, prayer services, and Mass planning, in collaboration with campus ministry and other school leaders

• Support and model the mission and core values of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon

• Uphold the practices, policies, and expectations of the Archdiocese of Portland

• Create a classroom environment that reflects a faith-filled and respectful community

• Demonstrate an understanding of middle school students and adolescent faith development

• Engage students of diverse faith backgrounds respectfully, fostering dialogue without isolating any student

• Create engaging lessons that develop students’ critical thinking, reflection, and moral reasoning

• Evaluate and assess student performance and progress

• Establish a positive learning environment

• Manage student behavior to provide an optimal and safe learning environment

• Satisfactory clearance of a background check and eligibility to legally work in the United States (sponsorship of a work visa or work visa extension not available).
