The Dietary Aide assists in the preparation and servicing of meals and snacks for residents in accordance with facility menus and dietary requirements. This position also supports kitchen operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment, assisting with deliveries, and helping with general food service duties. This is a part-time role without benefits, with a schedule of two days per week on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists with food preparation and meal service following established menus and dietary guidelines.
  • Set up meal trays, deliver meals and snacks to residents, and ensure a pleasant dining experience.
  • Clean and sanitize tables, work areas, dishware, utensils, pots, pans, carts, and kitchen equipment.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen and dining area floors, and maintain general cleanliness and order.
  • receive and store food deliveries properly according to safety and sanitation standards as assigned.
  • Monitor and record food, refrigerator, and dish machine temperatures as required.
  • Follow infection control and food safety procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with dietary staff and assist the Dietary Manager with  other duties as assigned in the preparation, service and delivery of meals and snacks.  

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to follow instructions, work well in a team, and interact respectfully with residents and staff.
  • Basic knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to speak and read English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including, patience, empathy and compassion.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Current Food Handler's card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Prior experience in food service or healthcare setting is preferred but not required  - we will train the right candidate! 
  • Extensive background screening is required for all employees.   

Physical requirements:
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the work shift.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to push and pull carts, equipment, and supplies.
  • Frequent bending and kneeling is required. 
  • High degree of physical endurance
  • Requires the ability to use fingers and grasp an manipulate objects, such as a knife with steady hands. 
  • Ability to hear and distinguish sounds and see details clearly for tasks.
  • Working conditions may involve exposure to rapid temperature and humidity changes (e.g., freezers, dishwashers, ovens).
